Promotion and Fund-Raising
Throughout the year we attend a number of Events where we both:
Promote – by providing information about both gender diversity in general, and Safe Haven - Cornwall in particular. We believe that the face-to-face contact with the general public is extremely important as many people will never knowingly of met people who are gender diverse.
Fund raise – our two main methods of fundraising at Events are our our ‘Rehome a Teddy’ stand, and where possible, a Bottle Tombola. ‘Rehome a Teddy’ provides the opportunity to win a previously owned soft toy, that we have either been gifted from various sources, or bought at a very reasonable price from a certain source. Selection of a table tennis ball for £1.00 guarantees the winning of the soft toy on a numbered square with the corresponding number on the selected ball. All prizes have been checked for CE / kite mark, cleanliness etc and vary in size from small to pretty damned large. The Bottle Tombola costs £2.00 to enter, and every table tennis ball ending in 0 or 5 wins a prize of a bottle which can vary from a bottle of top-quality spirit to a small bottle of water. With alcohol a potential prize in this tombola we follow the Challenge 25 scheme, introduced by the British Beer and Pub Association into the UK where, customers will be asked to prove their age, before being allowed to enter, if in our opinion they look under age 25.
